celestial-map-print-antique-astrology-and-constellation-chart
Celestial Map Print - Antique Astrology and Constellation Chart

The Latin title along the top of this chart, Planisphaerii Coelestis Hemisphaerium Meridionale, names it as the southern hemisphere of a celestial planisphere. The large central circle shows the southern sky with the constellations drawn as the figures of classical myth, in the tradition of the great engraved star atlases. It is a richly detailed sheet that rewards a close look.

Smaller diagrams surround the main hemisphere, among them views of the Sun and the cratered face of the Moon and several smaller round figures of astronomical subjects. Panels of tables and explanatory text run along the foot of the chart. The zodiac constellations can be picked out among the star figures, which gives the sheet its appeal to anyone drawn to astrology as well as astronomy.

This print suits a stargazer, an astronomy or astrology enthusiast, or anyone who admires antique scientific illustration. It is a striking gift for a birthday or Christmas. Like every print in the collection, it is printed on matte paper, ships unframed and is available in a range of sizes, from a compact study print to a large statement piece.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0907/2456/5323/files/Celestialmap-Astrologymapposter-LargeconstellationmapreproductiononpaperorcanvasNORDLY-DH1-34.jpg?v=1757302556
https://www.themapvault.com/en-nz/products/celestial-map-print-antique-astrology-and-constellation-chart
