Ireland 1872 – Rare Map – Vintage Government Survey Print
Rabatter beregnes i kassen
This full colour map shows Ireland as it appeared in 1872, engraved by G.H. Swanston and published by A. Fullarton & Co. It was made a generation after the Great Famine and half a century before partition, so the whole island appears as one country, divided into its four provinces of Ulster, Leinster, Munster and Connacht and its thirty-two counties.
Nearly every town, village and city is clearly marked. Dublin, Cork, Belfast, Limerick, Dundalk, Antrim and Coleraine are all visible, along with every Irish county. The bays and waterways are labelled too, including Dingle Bay, Belfast Lough, Galway Bay and Donegal Bay. The fine engraving keeps the smallest place names legible, which makes the map a useful companion for anyone tracing where a family once lived.
This map makes a wonderful birthday, Christmas or housewarming gift for anyone from Ireland or with Irish heritage. It is printed on matte paper using archival-grade ink for lasting clarity and fine detail. Like every print in the collection, it ships unframed and is available in a range of sizes, from a compact study print to a large statement piece.
