Based on the latest government surveys and boundary adjustments, the map captures Texas in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War, reflecting both the state's recent political reintegration into the Union and the physical realities of a still-developing western frontier.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSan Antonio anchors the map's south-central region near the historic mission chain the city grew up around.
