Cincinnati Antique Map Print - Historic Ohio City Plan

Titled Cincinnati and its Suburbs, this restored nineteenth-century city plan shows Ohio's Queen City spread along the north bank of the Ohio River. The wards of the city are tinted in pastel shades of pink, green, yellow and blue, so each neighbourhood stands out from the next. A decorative border carries letters down the sides and numbers along the top and bottom, the reference grid once used to find any street on the plan.

The Ohio River sweeps across the foot of the sheet in a broad curve, with Covington and Newport shown on the Kentucky shore opposite the city. The street grid of the downtown basin is drawn block by block, and the roads, rail lines and hillside suburbs spread out to the north and west. The outlying villages and suburbs are named, which makes the plan a useful record of how far the city had grown.
