Dies ist die erste gedruckte Karte von Cornwall überhaupt, erstellt von Christopher Saxton – dem Vater der britischen Kartografie – vor fast 450 Jahren. Basierend auf einem der schönsten erhaltenen Exemplare dieser außerordentlich seltenen Karte offenbart unsere Restaurierung Saxtons meisterhafte Gravur mit bemerkenswerter Klarheit. Die ursprünglich handkolorierte Karte zeigt Hunderte von Ortsnamen, von großen Häfen bis hin zu kleinen Dörfern, und hält den Südwesten so fest, wie die Elisabethaner ihn kannten.

Die Karte strotzt nur so vor authentischem kornischem Charakter: Penzance, St Ives, Plymouth, Lands End, Padstow und St Michael's Mount sind alle prominent vertreten. Lizard Point ragt dramatisch in den Atlantik hinein. Eine kunstvolle Gravur von Launceston ziert die obere linke Ecke und deutet auf dessen einstige Bedeutung als Hauptstadt Cornwalls hin. Siedlungen im Landesinneren durchziehen die Landschaft, viele sind an ihren modernen Namen erkennbar, andere faszinieren durch ihre archaische Schreibweise.
