Wood Brothers Cash Store of Unadilla, New York, commissioned this atlas from George F. Cram in Chicago as a promotional item tied to the 1893 World's Fair, giving customers a handsome, useful reference at the height of the Columbian Exposition's popularity. The Colorado map is one of ninety state and territory maps bound into the finished volume.

Colorado's counties are outlined in red against the map, with hachures used to render the relief of the state's mountain ranges, a prominent feature on a map of a state defined by the Rockies. Denver, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo are all labeled among the state's cities and towns, and the sheet carries printed figures for population and area in square miles. Drawn at a scale of 1:2,500,000 and referencing both the Greenwich and Washington prime meridians, the map offers a compact but detailed view of Colorado seventeen years after statehood.
