George Franklin Cram published this Nevada map in 1883 as part of his Unrivaled Family Atlas of the World, issued in Chicago by A.C. Shewey & Co. This first mass-production atlas ran to 65 maps and marked a turning point in making detailed state-by-state geography affordable for American households.
The map depicts Nevada at a scale of roughly 1:2,240,000, printed in full or outline color with mountainous terrain indicated through hachures. County boundaries are clearly marked, and railroad lines cross the state, a reminder of how central rail transport was to Nevada's mining-driven economy in the early 1880s.
