Established in 2015, The Map Vault has been a trusted purveyor of the finest and rarest antique maps and artwork. The journey begins with me traveling the globe in search of unusual and beautiful maps—some dating back over 450 years. Many of these early maps are exceptionally rare. Hand-colored editions, once prohibitively expensive, were reserved for nobility. In some cases, only a few dozen copies were ever produced—and today, just one or two may remain.
The greatest maps ever made lie hidden in private collections and national libraries—places few ever gain access to. That’s where my journey begins.
Then begins the painstaking task: combing through countless maps to find the precious few that meet the standards of The map vault.
At the Map Vaults workshop, Each map that leaves the workshop has been carefully researched, restored, and reproduced with the utmost attention to detail. Every crease, every colour, and every line is considered—preserving the soul of the original while making it accessible to modern collectors and enthusiasts. No two maps are quite the same. Some are elegant and minimal, others are dense with historical detail. But each one tells a story—not just about geography, but about the worldviews, ambitions, and artistry of the people who created them centuries ago. Sharing these stories is what drives me. Whether it’s a 17th-century sea chart or a forgotten town plan from the 1800s, my mission is to give these incredible works of cartographic art a second life—and a place on your wall.
Every map is printed close to where it's going. I work with specialist large-format print partners across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia: UK orders are printed in the UK, EU orders in the EU, North American orders in the USA, and Australian and New Zealand orders in Australia.
Printing locally means your map usually arrives within 7 days, there are no import duties to pay, it travels a shorter distance and it arrives in perfect condition.
