This is a hand-coloured Victorian map of Ireland from 1851, created by the mapmakers John Tallis and Rapkin. By mid-century, Ireland was deeply integrated into the United Kingdom, and this map documents the island's provinces, cities, and the rapidly expanding network of railways that was transforming Irish travel and commerce, published as the Great Famine was drawing to its close.

Dublin dominates the eastern coast as Ireland's capital and largest city, with the four provinces radiating outward: Ulster to the north, Connacht to the west, Munster to the south, and Leinster across the east.
