This colour map of Scotland was engraved by W.H. Lizars and published by A. Constable in 1822, capturing the Highland clans of Scotland during the early nineteenth century. Surviving full-colour maps from this period are scarce, making this an especially rare piece of Scottish cartographic history.
Dozens of ancient Highland clans are named across the map, including Mackenzie, MacDonald, MacLeod, Campbell, Grant, Stewart, MacGregor, Farquharson, Mackintosh, Gordon, Fraser, Chisholm and Sutherland, among many others - a wonderful reference for anyone tracing Scottish heritage or a Mac/Mc surname.
